Custom Neon
03/03/2008
Custom Neon has been lighting businesses in Kitsap County and beyond for the past eight years. Located in Hansville, owner Laurie Lewis and employee Joan Peter design and fabricate neon window signs, architectural lighting and art pieces. They specialize in original designs developed specifically for each individual client. A few of their signs can be seen in Kingston right on State Highway 104: Kingston Quilt Shop, Main Street Ale House, Salsa, Garden Cafe & Juice Bar, Harbor Hair Deswign, and at Second Chamce Clothing and Goods.
Laurie began her career in 1981 when her grandfather taught her the craft of neon glassbending in Salt Lake City, Utah. After working in Salt Lake City and Providence, Rhode Island, she moved to Hansville in 1994 to be near her mom. Having spent summers in Hansville as a child, and with frequent visits to mom, Laurie was very familiar with the area. In February of 2000, she opened up Custom Neon to better serve the needs of the growing North Kitsap area.
In January of 2005, Joan Peter joined Custom Neon, resulting in a collaboration of unique designs in both advertising signage and neon art.
Custom Neon participates in the "Art in the Woods" studio tour and the Hansville Art Guild studio tour. They, also, display neon art pieces at the Bainbridge Arts and Crafts Gallery, Pine Cone Gifts, and Raven Blues (Poulsbo). Laurie and Joan hope to have their unique pieces in the Kingston Art Gallery soon.
Custom Neon is located at 37384 Thors Rd. NE in Hansville. Laurie and Joan can be reached at (360) 638-2284. Laurie and Joan appreciate you calling for an appointment and directions.
