Herons Dance In The Cove
04/02/2008
by Marilyn Liden Bode
Great towns deserve great art and Kingston has it! In April the Kingston Art Gallery features a Trio of artists. Painter Patty Halfhill Watson (our Gallery Manager) and Caralyn Kieckhaefer, a new ceramicist to our Gallery mount their show titled "Danse de Herons." You will find herons (familiar from our local Apple Tree Cove) gracing our Gallery in their classic ballet positions. Whether in paintings large and small or in ceramic 3 dimension, be enthralled at our Second Saturday Gallery Night, April 12, 5 - 8pm. Enjoy art, music and refreshments every month!
Third in the trio are the students of Stephens House of the Bainbridge Island Special Need Foundation. Joanne Schoener Scott, Gallery member works with these wonderful young artist and says they enrich her life everyday. Their joyous paintings and collages are bold with color and humor. This show opens on April 10 and goes through May 5. We are open 10am - 6pm Wednesday through Monday.
You can see we are expanding at Cleo's Landing right there next door to the Chamber Visitor's Center and Office. To fill that space we invite artists and art teachers to contact Patty at pawsmac@mac.com or see us at Stillwater's Ecofest or at the Gallery.
Talk about expanding! Beginning in May the Gallery will have a shop in the Port of Kingston Office. Potter Betty Claire and Philip Yu, Port Retail Services Manager, see the shop as a showcase for the artists of the Gallery, and an invitation to walk up the hill and enjoy more of the fine art of local artists. A local artist's Hall of Fame, the shop will be open to the boaters and the public with things "you can't resist."
